Matar Paratha, also known as Green Peas Stuffed Paratha, is a beloved North Indian dish, especially popular in winter when fresh peas are in season. Soft whole wheat flatbreads are filled with a spicy mashed peas mixture and pan-fried until golden. It's delicious, filling, and perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
🧄 Ingredients
For the Dough:

2 cups whole wheat flour

Water as needed

1 tsp oil

Salt to taste
For the Peas Filling:

1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)

1–2 green chillies (finely chopped)

1 tsp grated ginger
-
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
-
1/2 tsp garam masala
-
1/2 tsp amchur (dry mango powder) or lemon juice

Salt to taste

1 tsp oil
👨🍳 Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough:

In a large bowl, mix whole wheat flour with salt and a little oil.

Add water gradually and knead into a smooth, soft dough.

Cover and rest for 15–20 minutes.
2. Make the Peas Filling:

Boil or steam the green peas until soft. Mash them coarsely.

In a pan, heat 1 tsp oil, add cumin seeds and let them crackle.

Add ginger, green chillies, and sauté for a minute.

Add mashed peas, garam masala, amchur, and salt.

Cook for 2–3 minutes until mixture is dry. Let it cool.
3. Assemble the Paratha:

Divide the dough and filling into equal portions.

Roll out a dough ball into a small circle, place the filling in the center.

Fold the edges and seal it like a dumpling.

Roll it out gently into a paratha.
4. Cook the Paratha:

Heat a tawa (flat pan) on medium heat.

Place the paratha and cook until golden spots appear on both sides, applying ghee or oil as needed.
